NICK THE KNIFE

This was an album artwork redesign project for an illustration course. I chose Nick Lowe's 1982 album Nick the Knife. Playing around with the idea of him being an actual knife was a lot of fun. It's a little disappointing they didn't go that route for the original artwork. I chose to base the artwork off of designs from 50’s Rock n’ Roll artists like Gene Vincent, to reflect the artists that influenced Nick. Details like the classic Columbia Records logo and the album’s original Columbia catalog number help make the cover feel authentic. This piece ended up being featured on Nick’s official Instagram, as well as on Behance for Adobe Capture.
